Today comes news that Verizon in Maryland is discontinuing the time and temperature service. My first thought was to that great Old 97’s song “Big Brown Eyes,” with its lament, “I’m calling time and temperature just for some company / I wish you were here / I wish I was, too / Well, I drank myself to sleep last night, as I always do.” Well, some things will never change.
